Welcome to My Blog!

Welcome to my new "keyblog! First of all, I'd like to thank my 3rd grade teacher Mrs.Yollis for unlocking the world of blogging to me. As you can see, I have a lot of keys in my background which is the key theme to this blog. I believe that the key to increasing knowledge is through blogging.

I have a plethora of favorites that are the key to knowing me.

Favorite Sport: Soccer because it's the only sport I play.

Favorite Food: Cup of Noodles because the soup and spices are the key to the great flavor.

Favorite Color: Green because I was just born to admire green.

Favorite Animal: Piglets because I am the year of the Golden Pig.

Favorite Subject in School: Writing because Mrs.Yollis makes it more fun than any other subjects.

Furthermore, these favorites are the key to knowing a tidbit about me.

Does anyone echo my opinions?

If so, which ones and why?

Tell me about your favorites!

  1. Dear Smiley,

Welcome to the world of student blogging! I know you will enjoy the journey.

I love your theme of keys. In addition, the way you made your own background using an original photo is impressive. Your use of the word keys was also so clever. Well done!

I know you like to get comments. What is a good way to bring in readers and get them to leave a comment?

    Happy blogging!

    Your proud teacher,
    Mrs. Y♥llis

  2. Dear Smiley - welcome to the world of blogging. We are a class of students in Taranaki, New Zealand and we took some time to look at your blog in our class this morning. We asked and discussed the points that you asked and we conducted some surveys (which were a bit rushed!). We have a class of 24 students here at the moment so:
    - Soccer was the best loved sport for four of us
    - Noodles was very popular in class with ten of us liking noodles
    - Only two people liked the colour Green!
    - Seven students thought that Writing was their favourite subject in class.
We loved looking at your blog you are SO lucky to have Mrs Yollis to guide and help you and we look forward to seeing some of your work in the future.

    2. Dear Mr.Webb and Room Three,

Thank you for commenting and supporting my new "key" blog. It makes me so encouraged to have a lot of comments and to see that you used my blog as an example to show your class. My teacher shared your blog post featuring me. I was honored, and the class and Mrs. Yollis were really amazed.

Thank you also for taking the time to do a survey from your whole class to see who has the same favorites. I am really curious to know, what grade is Room Three?

      Love,
      Smiley

In New Zealand students start School when they turn five (which can be any time in the year). They are then considered a Y1 student when they have been at school for six months. After a full year they become Y2 students. Our classroom is student who are Y5/6 so they are either 9 or 10 years old. Our school year starts in February and finishes in December but we have different seasons at different times of the year to what you do in the USA. The other thing is that our school is quite isolated and rural. Nearly everyone in the classroom lives or works on dairy farms and our students have farms with up to 1,000 dairy cows on them (and some of our students help their parents milk twice a day).

    1. Dear Mrs. Smit,

What a coincidence that my favorite color is green and you’re having a Wear Green mufti day. That’s great that you guys are doing a fundraiser for St. John Ambulance service. My school normally does fundraisers to raise money for water stations, more balls to play with at recess, and lots more. Thank you for commenting on my blog.

Are you a principal or a teacher? What do you usually do at Twizel Area school?

      Sincerely,
      Smiley

    1. Dear Mrs.Stoufer,
First of all, I thank you for looking and commenting on my welcome post! That’s incredible that your second graders are already blogging. When I was in second grade I didn’t even know about blogging. Do any of them have a blog post of their own like me? How did your fifth grade teacher inspire you to love writing?

  5. Dear Smiley,
I love your Blog! I think you were a genius about adding the word key lots of times.
I echo your opinion about soccer being the best sport. But I also like ballet, gymnastics, and swimming for a sport. My favorite food is watermelon because it is red and juicy. My favorite color is yellow because it is the color of the sun and the sun helps us live. I think the best animal is a bunny because they are fluffy and cute. According to me the best subject in school is reading because if you are bored you can go into a whole new word.
How do you think Mrs. Yollis makes writing so fun? Why were you born to like green?

    From,
    Lily

    1. Dear Lily,
First of all, thank you very much for commenting on my new “key” blog.

Second of all, Mrs.Yollis makes it fun by letting us have a choice of blogging, or writing on paper. I personally like blogging better because maybe you might make a mistake on paper and then have to erase it. In addition, when you erase your mistake it looks messy which I don’t really like. If you blog, you can easily delete the mistake and it won’t look as messy.

Lastly, green is my favorite color because I was born in May, and the jewel for May is an emerald which is green if you didn’t know. I also like yellow in fact, it’s my second favorite color because blue and yellow make green and what’s really odd is that I don’t really like blue I just don’t.

If you had to choose which sport is your all time favorite sport? What is your favorite book?

      Sincerely,
      Smiley

  6. Dear Smiley,

I echo your opinion about the pig because I was born in the year of the pig, too! I also think they are cute and smart like Wilbur in Charlotte's Web. I like the colour gold because I like how it is shiny and yellowish but green is okay too. My favorite sport is Tae Kwon Do because it teaches you how to defend yourself and it is fun to learn forms. My favorite food is almost any type of meat. I like your blog idea with the keys. I thought it was really clever.

    Your friend,
    Andrew

  8. Dear Smiley,
Congratulations on getting your own blog! I am a parent of two former Mrs. Yollis students who also received their own blogs. This is a big accomplishment, and I am sure you will entertain your readers with great posts. Your Key theme is very creative. Great start and good luck!

  9. Smiley,
Congratulations on your new blog! I agree with the other comments about the "key" theme--so fun! Your photos are also a nice way for us to get an inside view of the "key" to your hobbies. Our family also enjoys soccer and noodles and the color green because it reminds us of nature. Good luck blogging!

  10. Dear Smiley,

Congratulations on your blog! I can't wait to hear more keys to your life;) I too won a blog titled The Adventures of Sporty Katie ( yollishm.blogspot.com )... You are a great role model for me. Seeing how you post a lot and use a lot of high vocabulary inspired me to do the same.

Keys to My blog is a fantastic choice for a name for your blog! I think you made a great decision because on each post you find a way to use the word key.

I too think soccer is the best sport. However, I prefer turquoise and lavender colors.

    Your Friend,
    Sporty Katie
